Hon. Hassan Kisabya Almas, NRA Presidential Candidate
Hon. Hassan Kisabya Almas is contesting the presidency under the National Reconstruction Alliance (NRA) in Tanzania’s 2025 general elections. His campaign has gained increasing national attention for its strong emphasis on integrity, youth empowerment, and good governance. Running on the message “Nation first, parties later,” Almas has positioned himself as a candidate who aims to prioritise the country’s interests above political loyalty.
He has built his political career through years of service within the NRA, where he has held several key leadership roles including Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, and Director of Youth Affairs. His experience in these positions has improved his understanding of political organisation and grassroots mobilisation, reinforcing his belief that meaningful change must start with people-centred policies. Under his leadership, the NRA has renewed its focus on inclusive governance and the involvement of young people in decision-making.
Almas’s campaign message focuses on creating a lean, efficient, and transparent government. He has suggested reducing the number of ministries and using the savings on priority areas such as education, health services, and access to clean water. He also supports stronger accountability systems to fight corruption and misuse of public funds, emphasising that national development relies on restoring public trust in leadership.
Alongside governance reforms, he prioritises youth development in his agenda. Almas advocates for increased investment in technical education, innovation, and entrepreneurship to address unemployment and empower young Tanzanians to play a stronger role in developing the economy. His vision also includes reinforcing the rule of law, safeguarding public property, and guaranteeing equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of their background or political affiliation.
Through his campaign, Almas has portrayed himself as part of a new wave of political leaders aiming to reshape leadership in Tanzania. His approach combines practicality with ambition, advocating for unity, accountability, and a renewed sense of national purpose as the basis for progress.
