India’s IndiGo to Launch Daily Direct Flights Between Mumbai and Dar es Salaam
India’s IndiGo airline will launch daily direct flights between Mumbai and Dar es Salaam from November 20, 2026, expanding air connectivity between India and Tanzania. The airline announced the new route on September 10, stating it would become the only Indian carrier offering direct flights between the two cities, subject to regulatory approvals. The service will operate under flight numbers 6E 1851 from Mumbai to Dar es Salaam and 6E 1852 on the return journey.
According to the published schedule, the Mumbai departure is at 2:20 a.m., with arrival in Dar es Salaam at 6:05 a.m. The return flight departs Dar es Salaam at 7:05 a.m. and arrives in Mumbai at 3:55 p.m. All times are local.
IndiGo said the route is intended to strengthen links between India and East Africa, supporting travel for business, tourism, education and cultural exchange. India is among Tanzania’s major trading partners, with commercial ties spanning manufacturing, agriculture and healthcare. Aloke Singh, IndiGo’s Chief Strategy Officer, said Tanzania was an important economic partner for India and a gateway to East Africa. He added that the new direct connection would help meet travel demand linked to trade, investment, tourism and cultural ties.
The Mumbai–Dar es Salaam service will complement IndiGo’s existing direct services from India to African destinations, including Nairobi, Mauritius and Seychelles. Mumbai is a major financial and commercial centre in India, while Dar es Salaam is Tanzania’s principal commercial hub and an important port city.
The new route is expected to offer travellers a direct option between the two cities, reducing the need to connect through other airports. Its wider economic impact will depend on passenger demand and on how businesses, tourists and other travellers use the service. IndiGo said bookings are available through its official website, mobile application, and authorised travel partners.
The airline’s announcement sets 20 November 2026 as the planned start date for daily operations.
