Jessica Magufuli

Jessica Magufuli is the daughter of the late Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli, who served as president from 2015 until he died in 2021.

She has recently entered the political arena, running for a Member of Parliament (MP) seat under the youth wing of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party. She received her official nomination forms on June 28, 2025, and aims to bring new and young energy to the Tanzanian Parliament, focusing on supporting growth plans for young people, women, and the community. She also plans to ensure that the voice of the CCM youth section (UVCCM) is heard. Her decision to pursue a career in politics has generated significant national interest and support, with many viewing it as a continuation of her father’s political legacy.

Jessica is one of John Pombe Magufuli’s seven children. She is known to have studied at the University of Dodoma. She maintains close ties with prominent political figures, as evidenced by her visit to Raila Odinga to wish him well in his bid for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission (AUC).
