Irene Gowelle, Ag. Director, Communications and Corporate Affairs, TANESCO

Irene Gowelle is a communications and media professional with over 12 years of experience in television, radio, and corporate affairs. She is currently serving as the Acting Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs at the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO). She oversees strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, media relations, and public information dissemination.

Previously, she served as the Head of Programming and Production at Viasat1 Tanzania Limited. She was responsible for strategic content planning, managing internal productions, acquiring and scheduling local and foreign programs, and supervising production budgets and editorial processes. She also worked as a Programme Manager for TV and Radio at Abood Media, where, in addition to news anchoring, she handled radio and television programming, audio editing, and internal staff training. Earlier in her career, she trained at Mlimani TV and Radio, where she was responsible for news production, content creation, and broadcast presentation.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from St. Augustine University of Tanzania and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Dar es Salaam. Her expertise spans corporate communications, media production, public relations, and content strategy across multiple broadcast and digital platforms.
