President Samia Suluhu Hassan has described the October 2025 election-related violence as a heavy burden on her leadership, saying the crisis has shaken the nation and demanded difficult reflection as she received the Commission of Inquiry report in Dar es Salaam. She acknowledged that she did not expect the situation to unfold under her watch. Still, she pledged to face it with determination, while stressing that confronting the truth is essential for national healing and stability. Warning that peace is fragile and difficult to restore once lost, she urged Tanzanians to take responsibility for safeguarding the country, cautioning against both internal and external influences that could destabilise national unity. The Commission, led by Judge Mohamed Chande Othman, presented findings from a 153-day investigation covering multiple regions, documenting the scale and causes of the violence as part of efforts to guide future reforms.
