Political parties confirmed to participate in the general election scheduled for October 29, 2025, have been urged to nominate qualified candidates to avoid unnecessary objections.
Anamary Joseph, the Election Supervisor for Mbeya Urban and Uyole constituencies, made the remarks during a meeting with leaders of 18 political parties participating in the election.
The meeting aimed at reviewing the schedule and various election guidelines.
She said each party had been provided with election guidelines, including the qualifications required for candidates seeking various positions. She urged party leaders to follow those guidelines to ensure the election is conducted peacefully.
She emphasised that political parties are key stakeholders in the electoral process, noting that according to the Constitution, every candidate must come from a fully registered political party.
“Ensure you comply with all outlined procedures. In case of grievances, follow the legal channels to avoid chaos that could jeopardise the election,” said Joseph.
She also urged party leaders to properly coordinate their campaign schedules to prevent clashes that could lead to unrest.
