Tanzania’s elected Vice-President, Deogratius Ndejembi, has begun his duties by calling for greater commitment, accountability, and efficiency among staff at the Office of the Vice-President responsible for Union and Environment affairs. During his first visit to the office in Mtumba, Dodoma, on 31 August 2026, Ndejembi urged employees to move away from routine approaches to work and to ensure that government responsibilities are implemented effectively and on time. He emphasised that public servants should recognise the trust placed in them and use their positions to deliver quality services that directly benefit Tanzanians.

Ndejembi also challenged staff to change their mindsets, embrace innovation and develop practical plans that deliver measurable results for citizens and the country. He stressed that government programmes should not be implemented merely as routine activities, but should deliver tangible benefits and positive outcomes in the national interest. His message signals an emphasis on performance, innovation and accountability as he begins his tenure as Vice-President.
